Matthew 11: 25-27

At that time Jesus exclaimed: "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are unemployed.

Have you ever felt powerless? There are extraordinary moments that I can remember in recent memory such as being in the hospital. There are ordinary moments that I can remember as well, such as not knowing how the bills will get paid.

It's in those moments that I can remember trying to have some sort of "power" over the situation, whether it be through denial or pride.

I remember being powerless as a child. When I was three years old, I was lost in the middle of a department store. I wandered aimlessly trying to find my mother. I didn't seek safety in how strong I was or how resourceful I was. I didn't try to deny that I was lost by telling myself that I wasn't lost. I knew that with my parents, I could find my way home.

If know that heaven is our home, wouldn't we then trust in Our Heavenly Father that He will bring us home? In our daily lives, wouldn't we see every moment of powerlessness as an invitation to be childlike in His arms? Why do we run to pride or denial when we can surrender? Are we afraid of losing control over our lives?

If we think that we have control over our lives, then isn't it a good thing that God invites us into moments of powerlessness? If our God is Truth, then why would He allow us to continue to live in a lie? Why would He allow us to wander aimlessly through a department store when He desires us to be home with Him?

"You have made us for yourself, Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you" - St. Augustine

Take care and God Bless.
