Luke 9:1-6
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them." Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who are dealing with illness, especially for my friend's "Grandpa Joe."
I think about the things that I think I need in order for me to act the way I want to act. There's the twisted thought of how I need to lose weight in order to start exercising (twisted, I know).
I have this metaphorical "backpack" that I think needs to be filled up in order for me to live the faith out the way I think that God wants me to live it. The backpack is filled with such things as being financially set, being completely secure with everything in my life, and not having any struggles whatsoever.
Christ sends us forth to love and serve Him. If your backpack feels a little empty and you're more worried about not having enough, fear not. Christ will provide you with what you need. I often find that in my poverty is when God provisions are plentiful. Take care and God Bless.
