Luke 8:16-18
Jesus said to the crowd: "No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who are persecuted for being Christians, that they may bear their cross for the conversion of souls.
Lately, I have been reminded of a homily I heard a few months ago regarding how our brokenness is a qualification to being a disciple.
So often, we try to hide our brokenness. As I reflected on today's reading, I couldn't help but think how we need to be examples of bearing our sufferings with dignity for the world. Not so that we "get the attention" but so that people can know that we are united with Christ in suffering, and through Christ, we can bear our suffering with Him and through Him.
Let us be beacons of light for the world through our abandon and surrender to God's mercy and sacrifice. Take care and God Bless.
