Luke 10: 1-9
The Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. He said to them, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way. Into whatever house you enter, first say, "Peace to this household." If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves payment. Do not move about from one house to another. Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them, 'The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.'"

Today's prayer intention - for an end to abortion and the use of contraception.
There are a lot of people out there who are looking for work.
I remember when I got my first "professional" job. Right before I graduated from college, I was told about a place to go interview at. I didn't plan on getting the job because my original plan was to take a month off and then move to the Northwest to get a job. I had my heart set on this.
The job placement woman at the school wanted me to go on this job interview, though, so I looked at it as practice.
I thought that the interview went well. It was well enough for the interviewer to offer me a job on the spot, and thus started my career path in design.
All these years later, I am still good friends with the man who hired me, and I even consider him a mentor in the business world.
It was not what I expected my career to be like. I worked two jobs because this position was a part-time job. I learned to love (and later despise) 99¢ specials at Taco Bell and Burger King. Yet, through it all, I learned a lot ... and I was able to learn how to be a better employee.
Christ is calling laborers for the harvest. I don't know what that looks like even for me, but I know that I probably won't start off as the CEO. I may work my whole earthly life as a lackey, but one thing is certain: the Lord calls us to participate in His work ... in proclaiming that the "kingdom of God is at hand."
One thing that I need to hear: regardless if the work seems fruitless, know that God uses all things for His good. All to often I'm focused on the results versus simply answering the call.
The Kingdom of God is at hand.
Take care and God Bless.
