John 6:30-35

The crowd said to Jesus: "What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written:

He gave them bread from heaven to eat."

So Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

So they said to Jesus, "Sir, give us this bread always." Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the grandmother of a friend of mine who had a stroke this weekend.

If you know my mother, you know what it's like when you come over to my house (in Hawaii). Once you enter into the house, she's hard at work preparing food to make sure that you're fed. My friends always knew that if you were hungry, you went to my house to eat well.

Being removed from those days being in Hawaii, I began analyzing the Filipino culture and how they equate "food" with communicating affection (one of the four "love" types). Then I began to realize that this is true with more than just the Filipino culture. The fact is that to feed someone is a loving act. It's one of the Corporal Works of Mercy.

How much greater is Christ's love for each of us, who gives us His Body and Blood freely, totally, faithfully and fruitfully? Beloved, let us rejoice in His great love. Take care and God Bless.
