Mark 3:7-12
Jesus withdrew toward the sea with his disciples. A large number of people followed from Galilee and from Judea. Hearing what he was doing, a large number of people came to him also from Jerusalem, from Idumea, from beyond the Jordan, and from the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon. He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him.
He had cured many and, as a result, those who had diseases were pressing upon him to touch him. And whenever unclean spirits saw him they would fall down before him and shout, "You are the Son of God." He warned them sternly not to make him known.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is in thanksgiving that a friend of mine was diagnosed with spinal meningitis in time.
Sometimes the healing stories of Jesus, especially when nobody is identified outright, can be something that we gloss over.
Something that we do see in today's reading is that even the "unclean spirits" acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Son of God. That knowledge is not enough for us to be holy. What do we do with that knowledge?
As I was driving to work this morning, I was running late, and I got pretty frustrated. Frustrated to the point where I realized that there was nothing that I could do even as I was praying the Rosary on my drive.
It was in that moment of surrendering MY expectations of God that I was finally able to be humble and accept His will. I said to myself, "these things will pass... do not hold onto things that will pass away."
Through humility, we can make our "yes" to God. The unclean spirits do not have this opportunity, but we do. May we be humble enough to submit our lives to The Lord, Jesus Christ. Take care and God Bless.
