Matthew 11:25-27
At that time Jesus exclaimed: "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who struggle with depression.
The rat race. I never really thought about the image until now. I'm envisioning hundreds of rats doing their best to get that one piece of food. There is not concern for anyone else around you. There is only concern for making sure that "you" get that piece of food.
That's how a lady from Ireland described the transformation she's seen over the years. She's lived in Ireland, England, and here in America. Over the years, she has seen the transformation to where everyone is consumed with the "rat race." Everyone is consumed with getting the latest things. Everyone is consumed with getting the nicer house. Everyone is concerned with "the self."
There is a beauty when you look at a child. They know that they need others. They need the security of their parents to be themselves.
It's the same way with us. We NEED God, and we NEED to know God in order for us to be free to be ourselves. We need the Body of Christ in our brothers and sisters as well to help us and challenge us to grow in holiness.
Today, remember that the race is not for the latest thing but for the eternal thing: an eternity with Our Lord in heaven. Take care and God Bless.
