Mark 7: 31-37

Jesus left the district of Tyre and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, into the district of the Decapolis. And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man's ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, "Ephphatha!" (that is, "Be opened!") And immediately the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. They were exceedingly astonished and they said, "He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention - for peace in Egypt.

It is tragic to think about the loss of authentic masculinity and femininity in our world today. It is tragic to think about the loss of what it means to be a child of God in our world today. By God's grace, we have Christ Who opens our eyes and helps us to "speak" correctly.
"And people brought to him a deaf man ... "

It is tragic to think about how many people I know who refuse the antidote. I think about those who don't want to come to the Church because they feel like it is behind the times. I think about those who don't come to the Church because they are too busy. If only they could see the beauty that God has created in them! If only they could see the beauty that God has created for them!

It is no wonder why we ask the intercession of those who see Christ fully in His glory! They can see fully and they can speak clearly. They are before Our Lord, and they are where we aspire to be. It is humbling to know that we are not there yet, but we can ask for the intercession for those who are. They can pray for us because they want what God wants; they want us to be there glorifying God with them.

Until that day that we are before Him, let us continue to encounter Christ in the Sacraments, begging Him to helps us to see our own self-worth through His eyes.

Lord Jesus, say the word, and we shall be healed. Take care and God Bless.
