2 Peter 1:2-7
Beloved: May grace and peace be yours in abundance through knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
His divine power has bestowed on us everything that makes for life and devotion, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and power. Through these, he has bestowed on us the precious and very great promises, so that through them you may come to share in the divine nature, after escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, virtue with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with devotion, devotion with mutual affection, mutual affection with love.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for a friend of mine who had a stroke, for God's continued grace in her healing.
At the end of today's part of St. Peter's letter, we find love supplementing everything from devotion to self-control to virtue. What today's reading has made me think about is how will we know that we are loving? We can see it by the fruits that we are bearing.
As we continue to struggle in learning how to love, are we growing in devotion to God through the people we are loving? Are we growing in self-control with our love of Our Lord and Our Lord's love for us? Are we growing in virtue as we continue to love?
Nowhere in the fruits of love do you find fulfillment of desires, having enough money to be comfortable, or having everyone treat you fairly. There are great things that we are called to, and we continue to grow in holiness with the gifts of faith, hope and love as the seeds. Take care and God Bless.
