Luke 21:12-19
Jesus said to the crowd: "They will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name. It will lead to your giving testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the souls of Becky and Billy Most.
I was on vacation since Wednesday. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
One of the things I've read from the writings of St. Therese of Lisieux said, in effect, don't worry about defending yourself when accused.
How hard is that to do? How hard is it to accept others accusations without defending yourself?
As I read through today's reading, I was reminded of many things in which I responded from my need to be understood versus being attentive to the needs of others and desiring the best for their souls.
Believe it or not, we face persecution everyday. It may not be in the form of physical persecution, but it can come in many other ways. Do not worry about being misunderstood. Rather, trust in God's mercy and act with full confidence in line with the will of God. Take care and God Bless.
