Matthew 8:18-22

When Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other shore. A scribe approached and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus answered him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head." Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, let me go first and bury my father." But Jesus answered him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who suffer from cancer.

If you want to follow Christ, it won't be easy. Why should it be, though? If it was the easy, comfortable choice, how meaningful would our "yes" be? Christ was called to say yes to extreme torture and a humiliating death, and that revealed the capacity of His love for us. The harder it is to say yes truly shows us how committed we are to being "Christian."

When you think of a loved one, do you want them to love you "lukewarm?" Would you want them to love you "only when times are easy?" Would you want them to love you when "you have something they want?" God doesn't want to be loved lukewarm either. God loves each of us freely, totally, faithfully, and yes, fruitfully. These are the four ways you are promised to love your spouse in a marriage. It is the same way we are called to love Our Lord, who is Bridegroom. Let us be a faithful bride for Our Lord, whose love endures all things, including hardship. Take care and God Bless.
