Wednesday in the Sixth Week of Easter |
John 16: 12-15
Jesus said to his disciples: "I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for safety for those who are traveling.
I was about to go down a path in which we would start looking at the Acts of the Apostles to see how the Holy Spirit acted in the lives of the Apostles. In doing so, reminding myself that we are led by the same Holy Spirit ... the same Person Who is one with the Father and the Son.
Then I decided to look at the today's reading in my Navarre Bible and found this:
"The activity of the Holy Spirit is that of glorifying Christ, reminding and clarifying for the disciples everything the Mater taught them. On being inspired by the Holy Spirit to recognize the Father through the Son, men render glory to Christ; and glorifying Christ is the same as giving glory to God."
When we give glory to God, we act with the Holy Spirit. When we act in truth, we act with the Holy Spirit.
Yet, there are so many temptations throughout our day to act in discord with truth or to do what we can to turn glory from God to ourselves or others. It is so much easier to slander someone versus giving glory to God. It is much easier to hide our own failings versus telling the truth. It is much easier to even hate ourselves than to remember that we are created by the Father ... saved by the Son ... and led to God's glory through the Holy Spirit.
You are invited to glorify God through the Holy Spirit. Isn't it time to send back the RSVP?
Take care and God Bless.
