Matthew 13:54-58
Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, "Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? Is he not the carpenter's son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?" And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house." And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an end to abortion and contraception.
I was struck earlier this week by Pope Benedict XVI's comments about not being spared injury in order to teach him humility.
All to often when things don't go as planned in my life, there's something that goes off in my mind that questions the power of God. Is my faith that feeble that the slightest non-conformity to my desires / expectations causes me to doubt the power of God?
It is a shame that Christ didn't get to do great signs of wonders in His native place because of their lack of faith. It would be a shame if Christ wasn't allowed to do great things in our life because our faith was shaken because of own pride.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God,
Have mercy on me, a sinner.
Take care and God Bless.
