Matthew 24: 42-51
Jesus said to his disciples: "Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come. "Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so. Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is long delayed,' and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards, the servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the protection of the unborn.
Today as I was driving, there was a police officer behind me, but one lane over to the right. Of course, I was forced to drive the speed limit because of this police officer behind me. As I was driving along, though, something occurred to me: why do I try my best not to follow the speed limit? I always drive faster than the speed limit, and I always get frustrated at those who are following the speed limit and force me to drive the speed limit as well.
Yet, as I was driving the speed limit, I thought about how it wasn't so bad that I was following the posted rules. In fact, it felt pretty good knowing that I wouldn't get frustrated at the person who was driving slow in front of me. It felt pretty good that I didn't have to look out for vans on the side of the road that would take my picture because I was driving above the speed limit. I saw that the rules were good for a change instead of seeing it as holding me back.
If we, as humans, can make good rules like speed limits, how much more redemptive is the rules that God has set in place for us in our lives. There are many who feel like the God's will is oppressive, when we should be looking at God's will as freeing us to love God with all our being and freeing us to love our neighbors as ourselves. We must always remember that Our God is a loving God who gives us loving commands. Take care and God Bless.
