Wednesday in the Seventh Week of Easter
John 17: 11b-19

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed, saying: “Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one. When I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me, and I guarded them, and none of them was lost except the son of destruction, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you. I speak this in the world so that they may share my joy completely. I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the Evil One. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth.”

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are evangelizing in countries hostile toward Christ, that we may be one with them in through our prayers in Christ.

As Jesus prayed for us, He was worried about us falling into the clutches of the evil one. In response, He prayed that we may be "consecrated in truth."

How often have I chosen the ways of the evil one because I duped? How often has my pride led me into the ways of sin because I was more concerned with respect or gratification over truth?

Holy Father, keep me in You,
that I may be in union with you in my thoughts,
my actions, and my desires
as Christ was in union with You in all things.
Union with You on this earth is the joy I desire,
for it is a joy that is complete,
although the world my hate it.
While I am in this world,
keep me from the evil one,
in all his lies.
Rather, consecrate me in Your truth,
as Christ consecrated Himself for me.

Take care and God Bless.
