Isaiah 1:10-17

Hear the word of the LORD,
princes of Sodom!
Listen to the instruction of our God,
people of Gomorrah!
What care I for the number of your sacrifices?
says the LORD.
I have had enough of whole-burnt rams
and fat of fatlings;
In the blood of calves, lambs and goats
I find no pleasure.

When you come in to visit me,
who asks these things of you?
Trample my courts no more!
Bring no more worthless offerings;
your incense is loathsome to me.
New moon and sabbath, calling of assemblies,
octaves with wickedness: these I cannot bear.
Your new moons and festivals I detest;
they weigh me down, I tire of the load.
When you spread out your hands,
I close my eyes to you;
Though you pray the more,
I will not listen.
Your hands are full of blood!
Wash yourselves clean!
Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes;
cease doing evil; learn to do good.
Make justice your aim: redress the wronged,
hear the orphan's plea, defend the widow.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who serve Christ in serving the sick in the medical profession.

All throughout The Bible, the prophets (speakers of God's Word) call us all to repentance. The recent reading for the past few weeks seem to revolve around the theme of repentance.

The truly repentant sinner pleases Our Lord so much, and as a sinner still in need of more purification, I have rediscovered the joy of turning to Our Lord with a truly repentant heart. Today's reading reveals so much about the heart of God, and the desire of His heart. His desire is a desire To Love, and in today's reading, He reminds us that the greatest way we can love Him is to simply return to Him. I have felt this joy, and I know many who have felt this joy.

We also know what is loathsome to Our Lord: a heart that does not listen to God's calling to return to Him. When a loved one does not return affection, it affects each of us in a deeply profoundly hurtful way. God, Who made us in His image, must feel the same way.

I have become good at being loathsome, and in God's mercy, I have seen the ugliness of an unrepentant heart, and I have seen the beauty of a heart choosing to follow Our Lord. He is truly wise and grants each of us this understanding. Take care and God Bless.
