Tuesday, Week 1 of Advent
Is 11:1-10

On that day,
A shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse,
and from his roots a bud shall blossom.
The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him:
a Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
A Spirit of counsel and of strength,
a Spirit of knowledge and of fear of the LORD,
and his delight shall be the fear of the LORD.
Not by appearance shall he judge,
nor by hearsay shall he decide,
But he shall judge the poor with justice,
and decide aright for the land's afflicted.
He shall strike the ruthless with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.
Justice shall be the band around his waist,
and faithfulness a belt upon his hips.

Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
The calf and the young lion shall browse together,
with a little child to guide them.
The cow and the bear shall be neighbors,
together their young shall rest;
the lion shall eat hay like the ox.
The baby shall play by the cobra's den,
and the child lay his hand on the adder's lair.
There shall be no harm or ruin on all my holy mountain;
for the earth shall be filled with knowledge of the LORD,
as water covers the sea.

On that day,
The root of Jesse,
set up as a signal for the nations,
The Gentiles shall seek out,
for his dwelling shall be glorious.

Today's prayer intention is for all those who have contracted HIV, that they adopt abstinence and chastity as the most loving thing they can do.

All Things Come to Completion Through Christ

There will be tons of Christmas cards being sent this year that will proclaim "Peace on Earth." Many will send these cards out because it is a very "non-religious" message.

As Christians, though, we KNOW that Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, and it is through HIM that peace will come about. In today's reading, we see the beautiful imagery of natural enemies living in peace, with a Little Child that will guide them. Maybe there is someone in your life at this moment who does not bring you peace. Maybe there is someone in your life right now that you cannot forgive. Maybe the struggle you have right now is with GOD Himself. All of these can be brought to true peace through Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Through Jesus, our sins are forgiven. Through Jesus, we are called to carry our cross. Through Jesus, we are called to love. It is through Jesus Christ that ALL things will come to completion. All the suffering you endure now will come to fruition through Jesus Christ! He did not come as a burden, but as a Savior. He was born in a stable so that we may become humble and follow Him, to where the wolf is the guest of the lamb, and leopards lie down with kids. The place we are all called to is heaven, and it is there that our journey is complete. Take care and God Bless.
