Matthew 2:13-18
When the magi had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him." Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt. He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, Out of Egypt I called my son. When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi. Then was fulfilled what had been said through Jeremiah the prophet:
A voice was heard in Ramah,
sobbing and loud lamentation;
Rachel weeping for her children,
and she would not be consoled,
since they were no more.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an end to abortion.
First of all, I would like to thank all of you for your prayers (for those who don't know, I was hit by a car while riding my bike). The recovery process has been going well and blessed and I know that your prayers are with me. Today I had my first real bike ride since the accident and I feel okay. There are still some other things that need some recovery time, but overall I feel much better than I have been.
Also, there are quite a few of you who signed up through the website who were not receiving these. I have addressed this issue and now everyone who has signed up through the website should be receiving these. I apologize for the delay. And so ...

What drove Herod to kill the children? Could it be that he was afraid of losing his power?
What am I afraid of? One of the things that comes to mind is a fear of being rejected. Sometimes, I do withhold speaking the truth for fear that others may not accept me. Sometimes I fear walking away from a conversation in fear that others may not accept me.
Throughout salvation history told through the Bible, God say "fear not" (and other permutations of this) to His people. Even after Jesus rose from the dead, He said, "Do not be afraid."
Look at the ugliness that was born from Herod's fear. Do not be afraid. Take care and God Bless.
