Luke 9: 1-6

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them." Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere.

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for the respect of marriage as being between one man and one woman.

With the economy where it is at now, I have heard this statement a lot: I will give when I have the means to do so. In fact, just a few days ago, someone asked about what would you do if you won the lottery, and most people answered that they would give money to help their church and help the poor.

Why not build the habit now? Why wait for the economy to get better or win the lottery?

In today's reading, I hear the calling not to rely on what I have, but what God is ready to give me. While it is not much at this time, I know that it is enough.

We can proclaim the Good News now. Even in the times when we feel like we truly have nothing, we can trust that God will continue to provide us the grace to hope in and proclaim the Kingdom of God. He did it for the Apostles, and He continues to do it for us.

Take care and God Bless.
