Matthew 5:13-16
Jesus said to his disciples: "You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the House Committee's vote today for international abortion funding, that they choose to support life.
I recently took on a part-time contractor position with a company. In the break room, they have a television with the channel set to CNN.
I go in there pretty frequently, and 3 times out of 4, you'll hear the name "Paris Hilton" over the television speakers.
The big question is this: why the attention over a celebrity getting arrested? Is it because they are seen as "above the law?" Is it because they are seen as "role models?"
In today's reading, Jesus calls us all to be "celebrities." We are called to be the "heavenly socialites" for The Lord today. There are enough people on television, radio and movies that turn people away from looking at the dignity of the human person.
Today, be a celebrity for The Lord, living a life that people will not be able to turn their heads from. Do your part in portraying The Lord's goodness, humility, love and mercy, because there are enough "clashing cymbals" on television who are trying to portray their own definition of what is good. Take care and God Bless.
