Matthew 13:47-53
Jesus said to the disciples: "The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."
"Do you understand all these things?" They answered, "Yes." And he replied, "Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old." When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the souls of those killed in the bridge that collapsed in Minnesota.
On Tuesday I was in a discussion where we talked about responsibility. Whose responsibility is it if your neighbor never heard about or was exposed to Jesus?
As I kept on reading through today's reading, I kept contemplating our response to the Gospel message. More importantly, I kept thinking about my response. Is my response one that hides Christ so that others would accept me? Is my response one that turns others away from Christ?
As I reflected on today's reading, we not only have a responsibility to live the Gospel message, we have a responsibility to reveal Christ to others so that they may share in our joy as well.
There's plenty of room in the buckets. Let us invite Christ to transform our lives, and in doing so, transforming the lives of those we come into contact with. Take care and God Bless.
