Luke 7: 11-17

Jesus journeyed to a city called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd accompanied him. As he drew near to the gate of the city, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. A large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, "Do not weep." He stepped forward and touched the coffin; at this the bearers halted, and he said, "Young man, I tell you, arise!" The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, exclaiming, "A great prophet has arisen in our midst," and "God has visited his people." This report about him spread through the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region.

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for an end to abortion and the use of contraception.

There is a great crowd that is in mourning. They know that there is a loss.

There is a great crowd that is following. Some in the crowd may have seen some of the great works of God. Others may have heard and are following because they want to see ... they want to believe. Others may be been the actual recipients of the Lord's healing touch, and may have brought others along with them.

Jesus is on the move, and He is on the move toward those who are mourning.

If we are truly following Christ, we will be in the places He wants to encounter others. He will be in the place where others are mourning. Mourning the loss of a loved one ... their finances ... their faith ... the desire to live a life of virtue ...

If are are truly mourning, Christ will encounter us in our suffering. There are those who are following Him, and although they are not the ones who will bring our spirits "back to life", they are the ones who have come because they believe. They may have experienced God's healing themselves, whether physically, mentally or spiritually. They desire to see the greatness of God.

We all do. We all desire to see and know the living God.

If we are willing to embrace the suffering in our lives ... if we are willing to reach out to those who are suffering ... then our desires will come true. Take care and God Bless.
