Feast of the Archangels
John 1: 47-51

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, "Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him." Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree." Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." Jesus answered and said to him, "Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this." And he said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are struggling with addictions.

When day, if we make it to heaven, I wonder if we'll look back in gratitude to God. I can see us praising Him because of His goodness and providence to us. I can see us praising His providence for the gift that we have all been to each other in helping us get there. I can see us praising Him for the faithful who have gone before us and have given us the example of how to live the faith.

I can see each of us praising God for the angels He has given us to help us get to the point where we join in the grand chorus of praise!

Sometimes, it seems that neglecting the gifts that God has given us, in His angels and His saints, we are neglecting God Himself. If we are neglecting Him, then we are the obstacles to His grace.

The first book of the Bible that I remember reading is the book of Tobit. In this book, St. Raphael is shown to help Tobiah on his journey. Without St. Raphael's help, he would not have found his wife, and if he did, he would have been slain before sleeping with his wife. How wonderful is it that God gives His people helpers on the journey!

As we journey on our way to the heavenly marriage between Christ and His bride, let us praise Him for the helpers who have helped us get there through the mercy of God. Amen.

Take care and God Bless.
