Mark 8:11-13
The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with Jesus, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation." Then he left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who are going through a time of "spiritual poverty."
There was a time when I was all about asking the question: look at what you are praying for to gauge your views of who God is in your life.
If we were to take a look at the workplace, where do you interact with God?Do you interact with Him as you would an "office manager," asking Him for things that you need when you need it? Do you interact with Him as someone you would meet at the water cooler, praying when it's convenient and not giving Him the "painful" stuff? Do you interact with Him as you would a boss that you hate, feeling bad about your current situation and blaming Him because you don't have what you want?
What is at the heart of your prayers? Are you praying for the things that keep you up in the middle of the night? Are you praying for the people you can't forgive? Are you praying for those who asked you to pray for them because they need hope?
What is at the heart of your prayers right now as you read this reading? I hope that it's nothing like what's at the heart of the Pharisees in today's reading. Take care and God Bless.
