Luke 16: 1-8

Jesus said to his disciples, "A rich man had a steward who was reported to him for squandering his property. He summoned him and said, 'What is this I hear about you? Prepare a full account of your stewardship, because you can no longer be my steward.' The steward said to himself, 'What shall I do, now that my master is taking the position of steward away from me? I am not strong enough to dig and I am ashamed to beg. I know what I shall do so that, when I am removed from the stewardship, they may welcome me into their homes.' He called in his master's debtors one by one. To the first he said, 'How much do you owe my master?' He replied, 'One hundred measures of olive oil.' He said to him, 'Here is your promissory note. Sit down and quickly write one for fifty.' Then to another he said, 'And you, how much do you owe?' He replied, 'One hundred measures of wheat.' He said to him, 'Here is your promissory note; write one for eighty.' And the master commended that dishonest steward for acting prudently. For the children of this world are more prudent in dealing with their own generation than the children of light."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for the repose of the soul of Fedencio Salvacion Jr.

Earlier this year, seeing that the company I was working for was going through some financial hardships, I elected to reduce the amount of days I would be in the office. It was something that came to me through prayer.

After the arrangement was made, it hit me: what am I going to do financially?

So, like many I know, I have entered into this time of financial hardship. Months later, I can say that it was a good thing. It was good because I had the chance to see what in my life I didn't need. I cancelled my cable television (which I never watched anyway), I cancelled my gym membership (which I haven't stepped into for a year and a half), and I did other cost cutting things.

Something like finances are tangible and they're easy to identify. What about my spiritual life? When does that moment come when God tells me that he's going to fire me so I better act?

It's hard to see because we can't see the state of our souls. I can see the state of my bank account, but I can't see that my soul is overdrawn.

That being said, there is a great opportunity to make sure that I am prudent with my soul at all times, knowing that at any moment, God could call me from this world and ask me for an account of my soul.

Lord God, help me be prudent with the gift of my soul, created by You, and as such, it is good. Help me to be a good steward.

Take care and God Bless.
