Matthew 13: 54-58
Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, "Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? Is he not the carpenter's son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?" And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house." And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for the health of Melanie Pritchard and her baby.
It's funny to watch when most people are driving down the freeway when a cop car merges on. People tend to hit their brakes before they even check to see if they're driving the speed limit or not.
Most likely, they don't know the police officer personally, but the cop represents the enforcement of the law. That representation affects the decisions you make. After all, you don't want to get caught.
You might know the police officer. Would you drive past him?
One of the things that I fall trap to is, because I know that I go to Church on Sundays and serve in a lot different ministries, I miss the point all too often. At church I may say something in my head regarding the readings, "Oh, I've heard this before." I may disregard reproof because I may think that I know better. I may dismiss warning signs because I may think that God wouldn't let anything happen to me.
Jesus was working mighty deeds and nobody in his native place could see. Jesus still works mighty deeds, regardless of our own perceptions / misconceptions / comfortableness we have toward Him. Let us let Him work great things in us. Let us give Him His Sacred Heart's desire as He does "mighty deeds" in us and through us.
Take care and God Bless.
