Hebrews 2:14-18
Since the children share in blood and Flesh, Jesus likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the Devil, and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life. Surely he did not help angels but rather the descendants of Abraham; therefore, he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people. Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those in your life who need to turn their lives over to Christ.
"Lean on me / when you're not strong / and I'll be your friend / I'll help you carry on..."
For a moment, think about your friendships. What comes to my mind when I think about friendships is how the friendships are tested. I think about those who have stood by me in my difficult moments. I think about those who have challenged me when I was difficult.
We must never downplay the gift of true friendship.
All things point to Christ, and in our friendships, we see how Christ came to us and calls us "friends."
For me, something that is important in my friendships is to be able to share a meal with someone. Sometimes, I'll share my treasure and pay. Other times, it goes the other way. To me, more important than the sharing of food and treasure is the sharing of self. It's important to share my thoughts and also to hear the thoughts of someone else, and receive wisdom in return.
Christ shares with us. He shares His Body and His Blood. He share with us His Sacred Word. He shares with us His Blessed Mother.
In your own life, think about those friends you hold close and dear to yourself. How do those relationships point to Christ's love for you? Take care and God Bless.
