Ascension of Our Lord, Jesus Christ
Luke 24:46-53

Jesus said to his disciples: "Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold I am sending the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."

Then he led them out as far as Bethany, raised his hands, and blessed them. As he blessed them he parted from them and was taken up to heaven. They did him homage and then returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and they were continually in the temple praising God.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who suffer from mental illness.

Before Jesus ascends to Heaven, His last words to His disciples urge them to be patient and wait for The Holy Spirit. All things have come to fulfillment and Christ points out to His disciples.

As I was driving this morning, I was thinking about how I love to look to future hope. Today's thought was, "I'm sure the day will get better," and I began playing through scenarios in my head that had to do with things being better. As I was driving into the parking lot at work, I was overwhelmed with how the future that I should be looking at is not the future that's ahead a few hours, but the future that lies ahead, which the Ascension of Our Lord points to.

We were made to be with God in heaven, and the struggles that we endure now point us to the purification we need to get into heaven. We must continue to remember that we were made to be with God in heaven and all things that we endure on this earth prepare us for the coming glory we will soon witness as we all fall prostrate and worship The Lamb with great joy. Take care and God Bless.
