Matthew 10: 34 - 11: 1

Jesus said to his Apostles: "Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's enemies will be those of his household.

"Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

"Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is righteous will receive a righteous man's reward. And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because he is a disciple - amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward."

When Jesus finished giving these commands to his Twelve disciples, he went away from that place to teach and to preach in their towns.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a child's life to be saved this day from abortion.

In the words of Christ, Our Lord and Our God, we hear the question, "What god have you placed before Me?"

The truth is there are many gods we place before The One True God. We create these other gods (out of things that are from God, but are not God) because we do not trust in the God who created the heavens, the earth and everything on this earth (including you). We must do our best daily to abandon our fears and trust that God loves us and wants only the best things for us.

Therefore, Jesus, Our Lord and Our God, reminds us that "Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." We have become a society too interested in "finding ourselves." We are so interested in becoming the person that we want to be (which is already distorted) versus being the child God calls us to be. We have abandoned simply being a child of God for the lies of being accepted by the world that tries so hard to abandon God. We live in a society that wants to get rid of God in every aspect of our lives. God has been taken out of our marriages... God has been taken out of our work... God has been taken out of our schools... and for what sake? For the sake of being "politically correct?" For the sake of being "non-oppressive?" We live in a world that wants to get rid of God so that other gods may flourish. Have you fallen for this lie? I have.

It is time to reclaim our faith! It is time to receive God and to proclaim God as Your Lord and Your God! It is time this world knows WHO is Your Lord and Your God! You will be challenged. You will be put to the test every second of your life. Do not fail in proclaiming your faith to this world. Do not fail in declaring how good God is. Do not fail in trusting God's wonderful and eternal ways. May God grant your faith this day, and every day of your life. Take care and God Bless.
