John 1: 19-28
This is the testimony of John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to him to ask him, "Who are you?" He admitted and did not deny it, but admitted, "I am not the Christ." So they asked him, "What are you then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No." So they said to him, "Who are you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us? What do you have to say for yourself?" He said: "I am the voice of one crying out in the desert, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as Isaiah the prophet said." Some Pharisees were also sent. They asked him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ or Elijah or the Prophet?" John answered them, "I baptize with water; but there is one among you whom you do not recognize, the one who is coming after me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie." This happened in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is your faith journey this year, that you grow closer to Him in humility and obedience.
"Who are you?"
I am one in the desert who is no longer waiting for a Savior for He has come. I am one in the desert who needs my Savior for I am unworthy to untie My Lord's sandal strap. I am no Christ, but Christ has called me to love. In His love, I know who I am. I am a child of God and brother and friend of My Lord. I am the one whom The Father loved so much that He sent His only Son. I am the one The Son loved so much that He gave His life, without holding back, so that I may live. I am the one whom the Holy Spirit chooses to guide so that others may know of this great love.
I know who I am because Christ, The Light of this world, has come into this world to be a light in the darkness. I am the beloved. I am the one called to love. I am the one who was made to worship and adore My Lord. I am the one who was made to to love my neighbor.
I know that I am a sinner for Christ came into this world for a wretch like me. I know that I have fallen many times, yet I know My Lord continues to be faithful and, in my sorrow and shame and true desire to turn from sin, He forgives me.
Beloved, I am just beginning to know who I am. Do you know who you are? Take care and God Bless.
