Luke 17:11-19

As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance from him and raised their voice, saying, "Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!" And when he saw them, he said, "Go show yourselves to the priests." As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, "Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?" Then he said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has saved you."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer is for those in the military who are away from their families and friends, that God may grant them peace and that He guard them and bring them home safely.

I remember how packed the churches were after 9/11. It was a time of confusion and fear. People turned to God through this disaster.

Now, 5 years later, where are the large crowds? Where are the people that came to seek God for comfort? One thing that I am confident about: God wants their hearts just as much as He wants yours and mine.

What happened to the other lepers? We don't know. What we do know is that there was one leper who came back. He may not have known that his "thanksgiving" to Our Lord, Who came to be one with us, would be a thanks that would glorify God over a billion times over in every heart that has heard this reading.

It was a good thing that many returned to Churches around the country after 9/11. Hopefully, they will continue to hear the calling of Our Lord so that one day they may give thanks to Him. Hopefully, we will continue to hear the calling of Our Lord so that everyday we can give thanks to Him. Take care and God Bless.
