Luke 19:41-44

As Jesus drew near Jerusalem, he saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If this day you only knew what makes for peace – but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides. They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who have fallen away from the faith due to the recent scandals.

We are all a part of The Church, the new Jerusalem, and the enemy stands at the gate, ready to snatch souls.

Jesus, Our Bridegroom, is there to do what a good and loving spouse does: love and protect His bride. So, Christ lovingly warns us in today's reading that the enemy is waiting and the enemy is relentless. The enemy will test your faith and will continue to test your fidelity to The Lord. The enemy will use many tactics and tricks as any good military would do in order to gain the victory, and he will stop at nothing until the day our bodies breathe our last breath.

We must not let the enemy win. We must remain faithful, constantly turning to Our Lord in prayer, the sacraments, scripture and community. We must learn more about Our Lord so that we know what the lies of the enemy are. We must stay rooted in virtue so that we do not fall into sin. We know what makes for peace, and it is only Christ alone, The One who weeps for us because of His great love for us. Take care and God Bless.
