Luke 9: 22-25
Jesus said to his disciples: "The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised."
Then he said to all, "If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?"
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for those who are unemployed.
I was having a bit of writer's block while meditating on today's reading. After all, this topic has been talked about so many times. So, I decided to go back in the archives and see if there was anything that would spark a thought.
Reading back through it all, I realized that there were a lot of good intentions that were written on "carrying your cross", yet deep down there was the knowledge that I have fallen very short of the call of Christ's invitation.
Thankfully, we have the season of Lent that brings us to view ourselves in the light of the Person of Christ. In seeing ourselves in that Light, our sufferings and our struggles have a purpose. In that Light, we have the freedom to accept our sufferings, versus being enslaved to our desire to be free from it.
For so long, I thought that I was living a life that bore the cross with dignity. Praise God Who sees us for who we are and invites us to share in His inheritance, which is not only eternal life, but the cross as well.
Take care and God Bless.
