Matthew 14: 22-36

Jesus made the disciples get into a boat and precede him to the other side of the sea, while he dismissed the crowds. After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When it was evening he was there alone. Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore, was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it. During the fourth watch of the night, he came toward them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. "It is a ghost," they said, and they cried out in fear. At once Jesus spoke to them, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid." Peter said to him in reply, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." He said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" After they got into the boat, the wind died down. Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, "Truly, you are the Son of God."

After making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret. When the men of that place recognized him, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought to him all those who were sick and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak, and as many as touched it were healed.

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are dealing with an addiction.

It's amazing to hear about all the miracles that were done by Christ that pointed to the fact that He is the Son of God. Peter walked on water ... the sick were healed by touching His cloak ...

The lives of most people are farily ordinary in comparison, yet it is amazing to think that these miracles for them as well. These miracles are for us to know that Jesus Christ is Lord. What's more, God working in and through all the Saints point to the fact that Jesus Christ is Lord. The priest consecrating mere bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ points to the fact that Jesus Christ is Who He says He is and Who others say that He is: the Son of God.

Some days, I wish that I could see more of a "miracle" that I see in my everyday life. In fact, I wish that I could just live my life in a "redeemed" way. Instead, my life is full of mistakes and "ordinary" ordinary. Yet, the works that God has performed and will perform are for me. In a sense, the way that God provides for others points to the fact that He is providing for me in this time, both in faith and earthly need. If this is the case, the jealousy seems divisive; comparison seems divisive.

Instead of the other Apostles saying, "I bet I could stay on the water 3 seconds longer than Peter," they simply submitted to the fact that Jesus is the Son of God. Isn't that what we should be doing as well? Take care and God Bless.
