Hebrews 12:1-4

Brothers and sisters: Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith. For the sake of the joy that lay before him Jesus endured the cross, despising its shame, and has taken his seat at the right of the throne of God. Consider how he endured such opposition from sinners, in order that you may not grow weary and lose heart. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the child of a friend of mine, for a special intention.

Losing Focus

Sometimes, when I'm lazy, I keep my camera on "auto-focus." It works great... sometimes. When objects get in the way, it doesn't work so great. The subject I'm trying to photograph gets out of focus because of the object in the way.

Satan is really good at putting objects "in your way" as you focus on Our Lord, Jesus Christ. One of Satan's brilliant tactics is "instant gratification." It's a pattern that we have learned through our society, and it will continue to challenge us. When we look at Our Lord, love ACTS. In His Passion, He chose to love by dying. This also means that He chose to love by withholding any power He could have used to save Himself from persecution. He did not look at ending His suffering immediately. Rather, He looked at the greater good, withholding all control He could have used, and He gave His life for the salvation of the world.

Despite opposition, we must remain faithful to enduring our struggles. We must not look for the "immediate" fix, but rather look deeper into the vocation of holiness God calls each of us to. Endure your trials with dignity, with Christ as your ultimate model. Take care and God Bless.
