Mark 7:24-30
Jesus went to the district of Tyre. He entered a house and wanted no one to know about it, but he could not escape notice. Soon a woman whose daughter had an unclean spirit heard about him. She came and fell at his feet. The woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by birth, and she begged him to drive the demon out of her daughter. He said to her, "Let the children be fed first. For it is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs." She replied and said to him, "Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children's scraps." Then he said to her, "For saying this, you may go. The demon has gone out of your daughter." When the woman went home, she found the child lying in bed and the demon gone.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who are preaching The Gospel message in non-Christian countries, that Christ will be ever present in their call to evangelize.
So much of the news that we hear has to deal with how people are looking for work, and yet there is a shortage of opportunities.
In times like these, it may be hard to see that God's grace is so abundant that it's overflowing like scraps under the table. It's hard to see living in a society that is so focused on material gain.
There are a lot of people out there tonight who don't have a lot of hope. There are women who may be contemplating getting an abortion because they don't think that they'll have enough to raise their baby. There are couples who are using contraception and withholding the totality of the gift God has given them because they fear they won't have enough. In my own life, I question many things in my life, from financial issues to my own patience.
God's grace is so abundant. I pray that I can stay steadfast as the woman in today's reading, praying with such great faith that she moved the heart of God. I pray that recalling God's providence in my life will always make me aware that God's grace truly is overflowing. Take care and God Bless.
