Mark 6:53-56
After making the crossing to the other side of the sea, Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret and tied up there. As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an increased awareness of the harmful effects of contraception on our society today.
Can you imagine what it must have been like back then? Everywhere Jesus went there were people crowding to see Him, hoping to be healed or hoping to settle their own skepticism. People came from everywhere looking for Our Lord.
Where have all the crowds gone?
Although Christ is constant, we are not. The one constant we have is we are constantly changing. We change daily as individuals, and as a society comprised of individuals, our society changes. There were times in history when societies disowned Our Lord. Satan is not only good and making others believe that he doesn't exist, but he's also good and making us believe that God does not exist as well.
Many came to believe in Our Lord Jesus Christ because they could see His works. Will others see God's good works within you today? Will others see God's healing effects on your life today? Will others see God's compassion and mercy in you today? If we do not leave ourselves open to God's goodness, God's goodness will never be seen in this world. If we do not allow ourselves to be healed, the world will not have a reason to believe. Let us give the world a reason to believe: be open to God's goodness with faith and humility. Let His healing grace penetrate your brokenness as you receive Him, in His Body and Blood, and in His Word. Take care and God Bless.
