James 3:13-18
Beloved: Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show his works by a good life in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. Wisdom of this kind does not come down from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without inconstancy or insincerity. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the safety of those who are travelling.
It takes so much more than just saying "I believe in God". Satan believes in God.
If we look at the key points James addresses in today's reading, we can almost see a tangible picture of the anti-christ:
- Bitter Jealousy
- Selfish Ambition
- Boasting
- Falst to the Truth
... and you can see the fruits he has sown:
- Disorder
- Foul Practice
My earthly father, who knows my driving habits, told me one day, "you have to be humble." If someone cuts you off, what are you going to prove by tailing him? If someone flips you off, why pull yourself into sin? It's good advise from my father that we can apply to in life in general so that we don't become imitators of the evil one. Take care and God Bless.
