Mark 2:18-22
The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were accustomed to fast. People came to Jesus and objected, "Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" Jesus answered them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day. No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse. Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who are living in a state of poverty, whether it be financially or spiritually. May they know that God's grace truly is enough.
It was great to visit the Philippines after being way for 17 years.
17 years ago, I never realized how much faith would transform my life and how I would see the country differently after 17 years. Things like seeing the faith and devotions of the people there.
17 years ago, Jesus Christ was something that was good for some people and not me. 17 years ago, I thought that I was the enlightened one and the people who practiced their faith were the ones who needed a crutch to stand on. 17 years ago, I would have taken today's reading as a nice "thought".
It is my hope that 17 years after my last visit, I would desire the ways of Christ so that there would be no conflict within me. It is my hope that as I desire the new Wine, He will transform my heart into a new wineskin. Take care and God Bless.
